Which version of Java should I download for my 64-bit Windows operating system?

Please note that the 64-bit Java is presented as a download option automatically for 64-bit Internet Explorer users, as it is the only officially available 64-bit browser for Windows.

  • Go to Java.com.
  • Click on the Free Java Download button, and start the installation process

Follow these instructions for installing 64-bit Java on your system.

  • Click Windows XP/Vista/2003/2008 (64-bit). The File Download dialog box appears.
  • Choose the folder location. (Save the file to a known location on your computer, for example, to your desktop) and Click Save.
  • Close all applications including the browser.
  • Double-click on the saved file icon to start the installation process

Java for both 32-bit and 64-bit IE browsers.
