Setting up a Windows Server 2008 R2 as a Router

Installing Routing Server Role:

1. Add Server Role “Network Policy and Access Services”
2. Click Next
3. Select “Routing and Remote Access Services”
4. Review the summary and click Install
5. Close Successful install Wizard

Accessing Routing and Remote Access Server Console:

1. Via Server manager > Roles > Network Policy and Access Services > Routing and Remote Access Server
2. Start Windows > Administrive Tools > Routing and Remote Access

Configuring Routing and Remote Access Server:

1. Right click Server > click on “Configure and Enable Routing and Remote Access”
2. It launches Routing and Remote Access Server Setup wizard, Click Next 
3. Select the “Custom Configuration” for working on Routing and Remote Access
4. Select the “LAN Routing” in the list of available services
5. Click “Finish”
6. Click on “Start Service” prompt
7. Once service is successfully started, you’ll notice the Green circle on the server and list of network connections
