My Micromax Canvas 4 Review: Do NOT buy it

I’ve been using Micromax Canvas 4 and here is summary of my experiences with it:

  1. No Management Software – hard to export the contacts from Samsung Kies to Micromax devices
  2. Camera
    1. 13 MP camera is not even comparable to my older Samsung 5 MP and/or Motorola 3 MP
    2. Picture quality is good only when the Focused object is still (not moving)
    3. Picture if zoomed shows the sparks/dots…underlying picture quality is poor
    4. If you use Flash in light..you don’t see any picture..it all simply resulting in Sparkles
    5. very often hangs while taking pictures
  3. Flip Cover
    1. The default flip cover that comes with device causes more scratches on the screens due to it’s gum/glue traces after removing it’s cover
  4. High Radiation
    1. While doing net speed tests, noticed high radiations and device getting very hot
  5. Speaker/volume
    1. Not bad.  But still my Motorola/Samsung devices produces more sounds
    2. Would be an issue for folks who love to show/share multi-media in a group/friends
  6. Weight
    1. Is the only advantage I noticed with this device
  7. Android Apps
    1. Camera App is the worst/useless – Instagram making better quality photograph on the device
    2. FM Radio – switching between stations taking couple of 10 – 30 seconds
    3. No good games – You’ll get Fruit Devil, NFS Shift, The Darkman all are old and crappy
  8. Memory
    1. Internal memory 16 GB is split across
      1. 1 GB for Phone Storage
      2. 2.4 GB for Internal Storage
      3. 10 GB for External Storage
      4. You can insert upto 32GB SD card
  9. Network Speed
    1. Do NOT use Reliance 2G, none of the Google Play, Youtube, Facebook, etc will load
    2. Use Airtel/Vodafone 2G if you need to use 2G network
  10. Video/Media Players
    1. Default installed Music/Video players aren’t great in look and options
    2. I failed back to MX/VLC Player
  11. Security
    1. No good Security software – you’ll get “M! Security app” not much trustable or options to choose
    2. Face Racognization to unlock the Device – Worked fine
  12. SMS
    1. My Airtel SIM always been reported to be FULL despite I have Set SMS storage location setting to save messages to Phone.  Seems to be an Android bug
